Scheduling Information
Block Scheduling
The block system provides the opportunity for students to take four classes per day
in each of two terms. Classes are 80 minutes in length and a term lasts from
September to January or January to June.
Students are required to choose enough credits to fulfill graduation requirements.
You may choose any course provided you meet the prerequisites. The school
reserves the right to change your selection if you do not meet the prerequisites
for a course; if limited enrollment occurs; or if scheduling conflicts require
the change.
Scheduling conflicts occur when two or more courses that a student requests
are being offered at the same time. The Dean of Studies will meet with the student
to offer alternatives to resolve the conflicts. Courses listed in the Course of
Study book are offered only if student registration and staffing permit.
Scheduling Requests
While scheduling, it is important to remember that:
- Requests for a specific teacher will not be honored;
- Courses will be scheduled only if there is sufficient student demand;
- Choices made during the rostering process must be honored during the
upcoming academic year.
Changes in Schedules
After June 1, a student who requests a change in a course she originally
selected is subject to a $25.00 service charge if the change is approved.
Once the first term begins, second term courses cannot be changed due to the
placement of original courses. No courses, in either term, are changed after
the first full week of September. If a level change is made, it is made
through teacher recommendation.
Requests for class changes cannot be honored after the scheduled deadlines.
Exceptions are made only in extreme circumstances involving unforeseen conflicts,
scheduling errors or the recommendation of the administration. |
